Completed M.B.B.S. and M.S. (Masters in Surgery) from the renowned B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
A devoted Swayamsevak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Represented the Rajkot Parliamentary Constituency in the Lok Sabha for four consecutive terms from 1996 to 2009.
Renowned for propagating the revolutionary concept of check-dams, popularly known as “Check-Dam-Sansad.”
Served as Union Minister of State, Government of India, from 1999–2004, handling the portfolios of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Human Resource Development (HRD), and Health and Family Welfare.
Appointed as the Chairman of the Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog in February 2019, and served until February 2021.
